The following is a historical documentation of actual events that took place in the liberation of the largest island of the Philippines in August 1944. The compiling of information and the events assembled in this was the thought and hope of two men* directly involved. It was in a chance meeting between one submarine crew member and a son of a Bolomen in a beach resort close to the submarine landing site sometime in February 2000.

This chance meeting with one of the first-generation survivors of the Bolo Guerillas resulted in the formation of THE STINGRAY (RP-USA) FOUNDATION and pledged to themselves that a Memorial marker will be made on the actual landing site to commemorate the men and women that helped restore freedom in that part of Northern Luzon.

The result being, is the research and printing of a commemorative book called BOLOMEN thru the auspices of INTERFORMAT AV MANILA as its publisher. The book details the sufferings of the people of that place; the sacrifices of their youth, and the Bolomen natives notwithstanding the saving efforts of the Guerillas and the submarine USS Stingray.

In the release and sale of Bolomen, its aim is for Historical education. Hopefully for retention and understanding of undocumented historical documentation lacking in the minds of the Second and Third Generations of the people directly involved. This facet of history is only a dim memory in the minds of those living First-Generation people and now for the first time for the entire world.
